KL "Monocle" Walk

Description
In 2007, Monocle was launched as a magazine briefing on global affairs, business, culture, design and much more. We believed that there was a globally minded audience of readers who were hungry for opportunities and experiences beyond their national borders. Hence, this walk is curated base on this spirit to reveal to you how the young KLites survive through the urban regeneration current in Chinatown area with their art talent and intellectual aspiration.

In 2007, Monocle was launched as a magazine briefing on global affairs, business, culture, design and much more. We believed that there was a globally minded audience of readers who were hungry for opportunities and experiences beyond their national borders. This walk will basically reveal to you where the youth find their way to reclaim their stake in admist of urban renewal. We will drop by to bookstore, cafes, independent art space, LGBT space and revamp clan house in between your typical impression about Chinatown in various country. Hopefully at the end of this walk, you will learn to appreciate every single entity that trying their best in repositioning themselves in heritage preservation and readaptive use for a co-existance future. This walk is not so much historical oriented but more to urbanists' taste.

Itinerary

4:30 PM
We will start at Shanghai Book Co. KL Sdn Bhd that won't be strange for any Chinese readers in Asia region. We proceed to immediate four cafes in the vicinity that has gone through the readaptive use of the old building. Before we end up either an aperitif drink in a pub or dinner directly, we will visit to the hidden independent art space, clan house society and LGBT space that not known by many.

A stop over for coffee or tea is inclusive.
